Most hospice care is provided where a patient lives, but there are situations when 24-hour care and monitoring is necessary.
The Midwest CareCenter specialized hospice inpatient unit offers patients and their families hospital-level care in a supportive, homelike environment.
Inpatient hospice care might be needed when …
The patient is transitioning from the hospital and may require a high level of medical assistance, which can include:
- Adjustments in symptom management.
- Active intervention by the hospice team to make the transition safe and effective.
The patient has persistent symptoms (physical, psychological and/or spiritual) that cannot be managed easily in another setting.
Hospice care in the former setting is no longer possible.
