Focus of Services
- Services are patient- and family-centered, focusing on the needs of both the patient and his/her family.
- Palliative care is provided for individuals with a serious illness or at the end of life; support is provided to their families.
- Palliative care is comprehensive specialized care provided by an interdisciplinary team that focuses on improving quality of life for patients and their families who are facing life-limiting or life-threatening illness. This is done by preventing, assessing and treating pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns, whether the goal is cure or care.
- Services that we provide include: hospice, palliative care consultations, grief support and special services for children.
Statistics
- More than 3,000 individuals received comprehensive medical care in 2009, and hundreds of others received support services through counseling, crisis intervention and workshops.
- The 2010 budget is more than $26 million.
- More than 270 staff and a cadre of 250+ volunteers fill a variety of roles—service delivery, leadership, administration and advocacy.
