"Painting with Passion After 70"
Date:
Thursday, July 1, 2010

Time:
Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Location:
Midwest CareCenter Atrium
2050 Claire Court, Glenview

From July through August 2010, the atrium of the Midwest CareCenter campus will be adorned with the imaginative and prismatic works of Glenview resident and accomplished artist Essie Landsman. Ms. Landsman’s watercolors are in public and private collections throughout the country and have been on exhibit at various galleries and local juried art festivals. She has been kind enough to lend her works to Midwest CareCenter during the summer months for an exhibit entitled Painting with Passion After 70.

Ms. Landsman’s passion for painting began in her youth, when she was awarded a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago. The scholarship helped cultivate her love of drawing and painting. Decades later, at the urging of her daughters and husband, she returned to painting, discovered watercolors and was enchanted by this elusive, wonderful medium.

In her own words: “Representing beauty and emotion through painting is a great joy to me. I especially love the freshness, clarity and mystery of watercolor.”

Ms. Landsman—a proud grandmother of four—is chair of the Glenview Art League Exhibits Committee and a member of the American Jewish Artists Club. After retiring in 2004 from a full-time career in marketing and telecommunications management, she became the part-time administrator for NIEAPA (Northern Illinois Employee Assistance Professionals Association). She is also a docent for the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie.

Ms. Landsman has a special place in her heart for Midwest CareCenter, as her late mother, Reva, received palliative care and hospice services from the organization.
