Grants Benefit Expressive Arts
October 2008
CareCenter expressive arts programming received a significant financial boost this year from two philanthropic entities: the Illinois Arts Council and Target.

CareCenter expressive arts programs have become integral to the services we offer individuals in our programs and our community.

  • Hospice patients and their family members experience respite and relief through music therapy and music-thanatology.

  • Grieving adults and children often find expressive therapies, such as drawing and playing music, to be helpful in coping with the death of a loved one.

The Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, awarded CareCenter $10,760 for our expressive arts programs. This is the third consecutive grant from the council, and the largest one to date!

Additionally, our Families with Children and CampCare programs received a $2,000 grant from Target, which directed that funds be used for youth expressive arts activities.

The Illinois Arts Council and Target Store Grants program are committed to fostering community-based opportunities for growth through creative expression. The support we receive helps CareCenter reach more patients, families, adults and children who may benefit from the expressive therapies we provide.
